I’ve used the very same cable and my very same Macbook to connect to a different monitor (not Philips, but a Kogan monitor) with no problem at all - so it’s not the cable nor my old Macbook. After this happened I tested a few connections out to see what the problem is, and it’s just made things more confusing. I tried to connect it with my new Philips monitor, but it doesn’t register at all. I have a HDMI to mini display port cable that I bought separately, which I use to connect my Macbook. I’ve recently bought a PC for the first time, which hasn’t arrived yet but I have bought and received my Philips monitor. Macbook Air (13-inch, early 2015) ver 10.13.5 - a bit old but has been working completely fine all these years, and it’s not the latest updated software but I’ve run out of storage lol Devices: Philips V line 273V7QDAW/75 monitor
